Meet…Ryanne Smith

Ryanne Smith is conveyancer and team manager at Holden Smith

What is your role at Holden Smith and how did you get into a career in law?

I am a Conveyancer and Team Manager in the Elland Office. My day-to-day role is getting the legal work done on residential matters – and no two days are the same! I also manage a small team within branch, and I am their go to for all queries, guidance and support. I started my career in Law just over nine years ago.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Client satisfaction. When we are all complete and make the call to client confirming completion, all the hard work is worth it. I also love a good challenge and dealing with complex issues.

What is your number one career highlight to date?

Stumbling into law all those years ago, and now looking back at how far I have come. .

Tell us what makes Holden Smith different…

I love how we’re a relatively small firm, but one that has big visions. The extent to which the firm has grown in just three years is amazing, and it is exciting to see what the future holds.

What three words do you think your colleagues would use to describe you?

I asked my colleague for this one and she said: “thrill seeker, hardworking & passionate”.

What are we most likely to find you doing when you’re not at work?

You will usually find me climbing mountains or in the gym.

What’s your favourite spot in Yorkshire and why?

In line with the above, at the top of one of the three peaks.

What’s your party trick?

Convincing my dad to climb to Everest Base Camp for my 30th.

If you could change any law in the world, what would it be and why?

Probably for medical care to be free compulsory across the world – and I would love to change some conveyancing laws that are extremely old fashioned!
