Meet…Danielle Harps

Danielle Harps is a solicitor in Holden Smith’s conveyancing team

What is your role at Holden Smith and how did you get into a career in law?

I’m a solicitor within the conveyancing team at Holden Smith. I always knew I wanted to work in law; I did some work experience for a firm as a university graduate back in 2012, and I ended up staying there for ten years and leaving as a qualified solicitor.

What are we likely to find you doing on a day-to-day basis?

Progressing house moves, seeing clients, liaising with estate agents and supporting other staff members in the office where I can.

What kind of problem might you solve on a typical day / week?

Usually completion dates. When a chain can’t agree a moving date it can become quite tricky, but we always get there in the end!

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Solving a problem for a client, whether it’s a completion date which can’t be agreed or they are worried about something which I can help with. It’s always great telling a client they have completed on their house move, especially first time buyers who have worked so hard to get there.

Tell us what makes Holden Smith different…

The technology we use to communicate with clients is great and really puts us ahead of the game. It’s also a relaxed working environment with great staff.

What three words do you think (hope!) your colleagues would use to describe you?

Funny, straightforward, determined.

What are we most likely to find you doing when you’re not at work?

Looking after my two children, and enjoying a coffee.

What’s your favourite spot in Yorkshire and why?

Harrogate – it has some lovely cafés (Mama Doreen’s is a family favourite) and shops. My children love Valley Gardens with the little outdoor paddling pool.

What’s your party trick?

Making wedding cakes!
